New Year Update

Membership Renewals & IT

Renewals for most members are now in full swing. If you have not yet renewed please do so before the end of January in order to maintain continuity of membership.

Everybody is telling us how simple the process is this year

so don’t delay, just click Link to membership system , log in using your normal email address and if you have any problems get in touch with membership@sanfairyanncc.co.uk / chair@sanfairyanncc.co.uk

We have had excellent feedback this year on the improvement we have made to our website, people from inside and outside the club have commented on how much it has improved the presentation of what the club is all about.

Excellent feedback on the website

The website transition in the summer and the rest of our IT capability has been managed by Ian Blacburn. Unfortunately Ian has needed to step down from the board due to pressure of work limiting his time so our thanks go to Ian for the work he has done and the enthusiasm he has engendered to improve our IT. Any club members who would like to take a role managing the club’s IT, please get in touch.

Milestone deadline 8 Jan

We’re planning lots of exciting things for the Milestone in 2023 - routes, interviews, reviews, competitions (yay!) and definitely some adventures! We’ll be covering all of the club’s events and activities, but with some new ingredients we think you’ll love.

And, if you’d like to join our writing team, email Caroline media@sanfairyanncc.co.uk

2023 Dates

Our calendar Events calendar is maintained up to date on the website.

A few reminders:

Audax in 2023 - don’t miss out!

Entries for David Winslade’s Man of Kent 200km audax on 1 April opened on 1 January and are filling up very fast indeed.  If you want to secure a place enter now on the

Audax UK website https://www.audax.uk/event-details/9992

Entries for the Fairies 5 audaxes (50, 100, 150, 200, 300km) on 18 June have also opened, although we have more places so there is less urgency.  These are also on the Audax UK website (search on ‘Fairies’)   https://www.audax.uk/choose-a-ride/calendar-events/

Birthday Lunch on 18th March

We will be awarding all the club trophies and medals at the lunch as well as presenting the centenary book and there will be lots to eat and club members to talk to.

In preparation for this event please have a think about:

Attendance Shield 2022

With 2022 now over, Philip Thorpe is now collecting nominations for the club run attendance shield.  We already have some nominations from group coordinators.  If you have attended 35 or more club runs, ask your coordinator to submit your name and number of rides.  You must choose a riding day of Saturday, Sunday or Wednesday, but only one of the days and they must be official club runs.  There is a shield for the winner and medals for the runner up and third place.

Volunteering Trophy 2022

In recognition of the importance of the volunteers who help the successful running of our club, we have decided to give a trophy to the person who volunteered the most in 2022.  You may have helped at the birthday lunch or BBQ, or marshalled at an SFA organised race, sportive or audax, helped at Try It Out rides or any other SFA organised activity.  Please send an email to Philip Thorpe at clubruns@sanfairyanncc.co.uk listing all your club volunteering.

Club Sportive - 14th May

Planning is in full swing and the event will be bookable on British Cycling website soon. We will send everybody a follow-up message when it is ready for booking but in the meantime please save the date.

Do You Need a Bike Trailer?

We are gradually building a set of items that club members can hire.

  • Most people know about the tandems, details on the website.

  • There is also a hard shell bike box available for protecting your bike on overseas trips

  • A Bob Yak trailer has also been purchased recently

Two points to make on this:

  1. Please take advantage of the hire scheme to broaden your cycling experience or make it easier.

  2. If you have items that are difficult to store, consider loaning them for club hire. We will help you by storing the item and the club can also benefit.

  3. If you have any serviceable bikes which might be useful for a new starter or a youngster, please consider donating them to the hire scheme/.
