February Update

The 2023 events calendar is filling up and is constantly updated on the website, key highlights include:

  • Audax and Sportive dates finalised, lets challenge ourselves on distance.

  • Birthday Lunch and trophy presentation, March 18th. Club runs will finish at Boughton Monchelsea Village Hall so everybody has the chance to attend.

  • Wednesday evening time trials. Open to all. If you want to try before you ride a TT there are two free have a go dates - 15 & 22 April at a special circuit in Laddingford.

  • We are hoping to add additional events shortly so please keep up to date with the calendar.

Have you always wanted to have a go at a time trial, do you wonder how fast you could go. If so we have set up two novice time trial events on 15th and 22nd April. No cost, no pressure and coffee afterwards at Teapot Island. Why not give it a go.

The Wednesday evening time trial series is ready to go in diaries. You can pay in advance on your membership or turn up and pay on the day. Anybody who would like to help, John Lonbottom will be pleased to hear from you.

We are unveiling a memorial plaque for Pat Hill on Wednesday 8th February 11:00am at Haffenden Quarter. Everybody is welcome to attend and then go on to join the Wednesday Wobblers at the Rose and Crown at Mundy Bois at around 12:00am. If you want lunch, please book directly with the Rose and Crown.

The annual San Fairy Ann Sportive in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance is now open for booking on the British Cycling website. We are planning for another great event this year and have retained the very popular 100 mile route from last year as well as the 115km and the 85km so plenty of time to train up for your chosen distance.

The next board meeting is on Monday 6th February, the agenda is here, please contact the board if you have anything they need to think about or consider. All contact details are in the Milestone and on the website.

The latest issue of the Milestone is now on distribution. Our new editor Caroline Mortlock has been through a massive learning curve so that we can continue to deliver a club magazine to be proud of. Hope you enjoy this latest version.

Happy and safe Cycling.

Duncan Edwards
