From Snails to Sightlines: The Bosleys Take on Britain
It started with a holiday in Tenerife, and a moment that changed everything. After a serious cycling accident, Kate Bosley was left partially sighted. While she spent months in recovery, her husband John was quietly plotting their next move… in true Bosley style: on a tandem.
Fast forward to summer 2023, and the couple were pedalling 7,500 kilometres around the perimeter of France at what they lovingly called a “snail’s pace.” Mountains, mishaps, and pastries — they faced it all with humour, heart, and a shared love of slow travel. Their book, Snails Around France, is a tribute to grit, giggles, and the glory of seeing the world one pedal-stroke at a time.
But the Bosleys weren’t done yet.
Their next challenge? 🚴♂️ Tackling the entire coastline of mainland Britain, covering 7,000 km in just one summer, averaging a cool 100 km per day. The journey began on 28th June at Mote Park, where friends and family cheered them off on another wild ride. And it’s not just for fun, this adventure is a tribute to Kate’s longtime companion and lifesaver: her Guide Dog.
For a decade, Guide Dogs have supported Kate’s independence and well-being. Now, she and John want to give back by raising £2,500 to sponsor a future Guide Dog puppy named Bosley.
🐾 Every penny helps — and goes directly to Guide Dogs.
