End the cycling year on a high…

The days might be drawing in and the weather getting cooler, but the cycling year isn’t over. So, before you brace yourself for the winter, why not end the cycling season on a high? We have a lot happening, all put together to support you, our members.

First, I hope you’re enjoying Bob’s amazing Cycle Quest. There is still time to get involved. A never to be repeated event, discovering great places across Kent. There will be prizes for the people who discover the most… More details here..

Second, there’s the annual Hill Climb Championship on 25th September, up Hollingbourne Hill, run by our neighbours at the Wigmore CC. SFACC have historically done pretty well. So - why not challenge yourself? More details here.

Then we have the Fairies Crown Rides on 2nd October, leaving from the Ulcombe Village Hall. Two distances available - 100km and 200km, with spectacular scenery, and less busy roads. Food available before and after the ride. Registrations close soon - 24th September, so if you want to take part, register now.

And finally, we have the Kent Reliability Trial on 30th October. This is an interclub competition on 30th October. There are four distances, so every club member can take part, and a route you can join anywhere. You do it in groups, and at least one member needs to record their Strava times as it’s self validated. We came second last year by just 1.5 points - so this surely has to be the year we win back the crown? You can register now to take part for £3.75 on our events page (for admin, with all profits to go to the local Air Ambulance Service). So why not find a group to ride with, and agree where you’ll start, and what distance you will do? See the KCC website for more details and to download routes.

All the best, and keep cycling!

Natalie and the SFACC Board.
