A sunny ride from Yalding to Chiddingstone

After last weeks Chestnut Street grotty weather when only Tony Palmer turnedup, then left to do a local ride from home,it was different today.A large crowd congregated at Yalding station. Including the Yalding alternative group of approx 10 riders.Their number was reduced slightly at the onset, when a loud bang from Wendy's inner tube blew the tyre wall off in part,so she gave up,and the rest went off heading to Paddock Wood.  It was suggested that Chiddingstone Castle is always a nice ride,so Richard led off with a group of 12,and took the usual route ,with a nice following wind. After Hadlow, Ralph offered to lead for a while, and carried on past Hildenborough and Chiddingstone Causeway to the Castle.Chairs and tables were already positioned outside the courtyard in the lovely warmth of the grounds,so it was a very relaxing stop. The return leg maintained the usual route, via Leigh ,Powdermills and Tonbridge, before the country lanes around Golden Green and East Peckham.A distance of 36 miles at about 14 mph average, without incident.
