8/2/17 A cold ride to Leysdown

A problem on the M2,caused traffic chaos at the start of the ride from Chestnut Street, but 15 riders still managed to get there.Russell suggested going out to Leysdown,so off he led ,staying away from the main roads, through Newington and Funton to the Sheppey Bridge.Carrying on to Halfway, before taking the cycle path to Barton Point, then into Minster, with views over a very grey looking Thames estuary.Keeping to the back roads, where possible, through Eastchurch, before the main road to Leysdown.Firstly a stop overlooking the sandy deserted beach for a group photo.A lot of places were still shut over the winter, but the group found a lovely little bakery/coffeee shop, which was quick, accommodating and good value. The return was via the main road to the bridge,so large gaps in the group assisted motorists. It was then into Iwade and Bobbing back to Chestnut Street, without any incidents.A distance of 37 miles at about 12.5 mph. Thanks Russ for the suggestion.
