Today we had 12 riders, and Chris led out through the town of Snodland and up Paddlesworth heading for the A20 cafés at West Kingsdown. The route took us through Birling, West Malling and Offham before turning at Crouch to descend through Basted and then bypass central Borough Green. Arriving at Igtham we diverted off the main road to start the climb onto the downs, using Old Terrys Lodge Road. The Hollyville café had plenty of room and the usual good food and service. Les had to get back for an appointment so took the direct route along the A20, but the rest headed for Stansted and some undulating roads back to join the Meopham road. We then followed the Pilgrims Way at the top of Wrotham Hill and we finally got back to Snodland via Trottiscliffe and Ryarsh. A distance of 32 miles at 12.2 mph average with no problems.
