12 of us turned up for the ride from Yalding and with Tony volunteering to lead, set off for Headcorn Aerodrome. He took us through Laddingford to Claygate, where the pub is now completely shut and boarded up, before joining the Goudhurst road into Marden. On into Staplehurst and past Hawkenbury to Headcorn and then a loop around Smarden to the Airfield. A lovely sunny day when we arrived, so we sat outside for our break and watched the first of the Skydiving planes take off that day, which had been delayed so far by the windy conditions. From there we crossed the A274 and along New House Lane, to retrace our route after Headcorn until we turned off to Wanshurst Green and Milebush, then Chainhurst and Hunton to arrive back at Yalding Station. Total of 37 miles at 14.4 mph average.
