Ride report from Russell
It was to be one of those rides. 15 meeting up at Harrietsham accepting Russell's offer to lead there being no offers of a downhill all the way wind assisted smooth Tarmac option proposed. Setting off and up Marley Lane to the Pilgrim's Way, through Lenham for the Hubbards Hill climb and the flat ride along Waterditch Road. Tim picking up the first puncture of the day leaving us waiting outside The Bowl which was sadly not open. Through the mucky roads of the woods at the top of Charing Hill to the Canterbury Road. Josh missing the turn by Cedar House Farm to be reined in and rejoining the route down the hill to Westwell. Bob collecting a puncture on the way down and Ray a bruise or two by a fall. Before the A20 Bob collected his second puncture. The group anxious for their cafe stop headed off to find Gourmet Angel's Catering, the burger bar, at Hothfield lay by and abandoning a longer ride to Bethersden. Far from fast food but worth the long wait. Mark leaving, before the last of us had been served, to return by the quickest route to Sevenoaks. Our luck changed and we had an uneventful enjoyable ride through Little Chart, up Coach Road to Platts Heath and down Fairbourne Lane to our start point. Just 26 miles at average of 12 mph.
